APIP 5: Deploy APWine on Kava EVM co-chain to earn incentives from $750M Kava Rise Program

Deploy APWine onto Kava

Kava proposes deploying APWine on the Kava Network to earn a share of programatic developer incentives and establish itself as the derivatives layer protocol throughout the Cosmos/IBC ecosystem.

Summary

Kava will help drive value to the APW token and its users by extending derivatives market distribution to all major Cosmos blockchains and fueling growth with Kava’s $750M Kava Rise developer incentive which APWine should take a portion of with it’s usage.

Background

Kava’s mainnet has been live since early 2018 with no downtime or exploits , demonstrating proven resiliency and scalability via its native suite of top-tier DeFi products. In that time, Kava has onboarded 1.9M+ unique addresses and processed more than $2B in cross-chain transactions without issue.

The Kava Network has built on that foundation by merging the industry’s two most used permissionless ecosystems — Ethereum and Cosmos — in a single, developer-optimized Layer-1 network. Kava implements a unique co-chain architecture (like Avalanche c-chains) that allows for seamless interoperability between the two environments.

Kava’s Ethereum co-chain has successfully launched and the massive $750M Kava Rise developer incentive program is now LIVE.

50+ Ethereum DeFi protocols like SushiSwap are now onboarding. This is an exciting opportunity for APWine to deploy onto Cosmos ecosystem and get a first mover advantage in:

1.) TVL based programmatic incentives that will drive value to the APW token
2.) Open APWine markets to all major Cosmos assets (ATOM, CRO, OSMO, etc) cementing APWine as the #1 derivatives protocol on Kava.

Kava is the most actively used and trusted network to integrate EVM support with the Cosmos SDK and IBC. Kava represents a proven entry point for APWine to the Cosmos ecosystem and its users. APWine launching on Kava gives APWine users access not only to Ethereum assets, but Cosmos and Binance Chain assets including.

The $KAVA token is listed on Binance, Kraken, Huobi Global, Upbit, and nearly every other major global exchange and wallet with strong liquidity and use in every major region in the world.

Incentives

With the Kava Rise Program, the Kava Network is implementing a unique and transparent on-chain incentive model for developers and ecosystem projects. The Kava Rise program will programmatically distribute $750M in Kava over 4 years to projects based on TVL.

The groundwork has already been set, all that’s left is for APWine to deploy onto Kava and start earning programmatic rewards every month which will accrue value to the APW holder and user.

Kava and APWine are aligned in together bringing APWine to Kava’s co-chain ecosystem and the Cosmos ecosystem broadly, with the goal of cementing APWine as the derivatives protocol of choice across the Cosmos and driving value to the APWine community for years to come.

Example Calculation:

DefiLlama shows APWine with ~5M in TVL on Ethereum. With an equivalent amount on Kava -

$5m/~$300m total TVL is about 0.01667 of the total rewards.

If you maintained this proportion at the fully ramped amount of 4M Kava distributed per month, you’d get ~66,667 Kava per month, or ~$142k/month USD at today’s prices

  • Deploy on Kava EVM to earn Kava rewards
  • Don’t deploy on Kava EVM
  • Indifferent

Thanks for the proposal !

Definitely in favor of deploying on Kava as there is some yield optimizer that can be added, and many other protocols coming as mentioned by Tommy on the governance call, such as Sushi, Curve, Saddle and many other protocols as they are looking to onboard 100 protocols by EOY.

I started to work on a proposal for the grant distribution, I’ll publish it here as soon as it’s ready.

In the meantime, I think we can push the proposal on Snapshot for the deployment tomorrow if the community is for it :wine_glass:

Hi!

Thank you for the proposal @TommyKavaLabs , it’s very nice to think about us !

I don’t see any counter argument to be deployed n Kava as long as Kava can’t harm the protocol

Moreover, @Dydymoon will certainly make good use of $KAVA through his grant distribution proposal !

That’s why I’m personally in favor of this proposal, it’s a win-win.
